Methodology Projects

Another key area of my research concerns ‘Methodology & Place’, more particularly the innovative use of qualitative methodology. Adopting ethnographic and (auto)ethnographic approaches, alongside more conventional semi-structured interviews, life histories, and field diaries, I have explored the agency of place through methodology, but also the difference that place can make to methodology. Taking seriously the agency of place to the research encounter has resulted in more appropriate exploitation of the potential of qualitative methods in the research projects outlined above, as well as a number of publications that explicitly explore this area [1, 2, 3, 4] interest has been particularly significant in the use of ‘talking whilst walking’ approaches to method [5].

Here is one example of work in this area.

A new project in this area experiments with ‘Biomapping‘.
